Looks like it, me and Chunky are doing some dyno testing for Skunk2 and IPS tonight, he baselined 214whp with stock cams on his mildly built K20A2 motor.

he needs to break 237whp to be the NA MASTER, i think its going to happen. installing the k2s now :no:

A good friend up at my work just finished his K20a2 swap into his eg. Should be pretty interesting to see the power once he starts tuning the K-pro and adding more parts.

to my knowledge there hasnt been any K , B, H, or D break 237whp locally.

Streetstuff did have a carbed F series that made over 300whp, but i dont think it dynoed locally and i dont think the car was ever put together

what defines locally? Tracy over in tuscaloosa has that k24 all motor car, which i think they are decommissioned now. It's stacy's car and im sure it made over 240whp.

Even if it falls I think it's not quite fair to compare the 2 blocks. When the pricing falls down for serious N/A K series parts there will be quite a few Ks that pass those numbers. But I can't see a GA B series doing it anytime soon unless some1 has got something in the works.

Racewerks had a road race del sol i beleive that made 210-220.

but they dyno at balanced, an no car from GA has been through Balanced that has made higher than my car. StreetStuff was the FIRST to make 237whp, He did in in that black EF that said PAID FOR.

We joke all the time how we are tied

By march 22nd, my title will have fallen to the NEW OWNER of my old longblock. he will make 250whpish. he added ITBs and a new CNC head.

All Motor on here should beat my record as well, his motor is "NICE"

Black R if he ever gets off his ass has a stroker motor that sould out do mine.

and the answer is he got within 6whp owith the skunk2s, but not enough

Yeah, they are just not at the shop as much, usually out racing...The del sol was pretty much a stock build...The prelude had a pretty bad h23vtec in it, was told making 240+hp...He is local...

* That's what I said. What could make it a better argument is power gained over base. For ex - dyno a stock LS/V, then Mike's old block - figure out the HP increase (as a percentage). Then do the same for a stock K and see what the HP gain is --> as a percentage. THEN you can compare diff blocks, diff engines (etc) and claim your N/A prowess as "I made XX% more WHP on a N/A build than that other guy." Even doing it THAT way is not 100% fair, but more fair than comparing the actual WHP of a B build vs a K build.

* IMO Mike was one of the 1st, and that will be remembered for a long time. Hell, kids these days have the "recipes" online for them - the blueprint is there for NE1 who has the heart, time and the $$ to do so. The only downside to Mike's build is that he can't drive for shit - LOL. And 2, he never put it on the track as much as he should to really dial it in. But in a way that takes away from it, and for the 1st time I can see how timeslips do not matter. I play on the street, and that makes me happy. But I will track my block at least once next Spring.

word thats why you build a 92mm motor and have someone make you some custom lengh rods and custom pistons and you can achieve around the same r/s ratio as a ls if it's done right, so the damn bearings don't take a beating and need to be replaced every 5k or so if they last that long at 9500, because all the big cams need to rev atleast that high to make the peak power.


i'm more impressed with the midrange on mine than i am the peak power hell it only makes that for a couple seconds lol fat curves FTW.

i wouldnt say that.... i've seen H23VTEC's rev as high as 9000rpm...(turbo application)... and...there are some with 98mm cranks that are making shitload of power and dont have to rev that high.

Cylinder head: Vance and Hines portwork, Skunk2 Pro 1 camshafts, Skunk2 springs and titainium retainers, 2000 Prelude LMAs, 50mm TWM ITBs, RC engineering 440cc Fuel injectors, STR cam seal, Skunk2 cam gears, RMF 4-1 header, ARP head studs, Cometic head gasket.
Misc: NGK wires, Hondata S300 engine management

reliably, i dont see a 95mm crank local that has lasted more than 6 months. and i have never seen one make over 217whp

i just dont think anyone local can really put one together the right way

im sure there are some local people here that has the skills to put it together... but of course most of the stuff will have to be sent out of state for head work and all the other good stuff.

You know what - I bet there are still some "best kept secret" type spots for "decent or slightly better" machine work in GA. At least for bottom ends + assembly. And even heads can be done locally - I mean if you really want a GANGSTA ass head then yeah move it out of state, but I bet we have the talent in GA (maybe not JUST in ATL) to get some decent work done. We are more connected as far as shops go than a LOT of states I have lived in if we really think about it. Maybe we are too close geographically to FL and VA to really get our just due.

Everything's local on that build minus the sleeves. But all machining, headwork, and assembly was local.

someone earlier had mentioned raceworks.. joey (who used to work there) had built a h23/h22 combo that put down mid 240's in there honda challenge race prelude. You can ask jason (speedminded) he knows a little more about the build than i do.. but over 200whp all motor is still alot of power IMO!

You had skunk2 PRO 3 cams. I was rocking stage II cams.

don't worry mike, i won't be long before i'll take the record. I may even be able to do it on the stage II cams.

I had to pick one with a short enough straight to keep him from staying on it too long. Although, the track's been re-done, so I might be in trouble.
