I am gonna be ready to buy a bike in the first week of August. Do bike shops give better deals around that time on on new '05's cause the season is almost over? How much can you usally talk them down?

well brett, here's how it goes....

when it's good riding weather, bikes =$$$$$

when the weather sucks and bad for riding, bikes = cheaper

Yeah that I know...LOL. I just figured by August sales start slumping because most people who wanted thm for this season by that time already have them

actually the dealers won't change prices that far even going into winter. might as well buy it while you can still enjoy it.

Buy a used bike for your first one. You will drop it sometime. When you figure that in with the depreciation, it makes sense to buy a smaller cc used bike first, then step into a new bike later.
Just a suggestion from someone who has been riding for years (and is a cheap bastard...).

And on that note, I'm off to ride to work ....

This wont be my 1st bike, and even my 1st bike I never dropped in the year I had that one luckily, I just was careful.

I will get a 600 because anything bigger I will kill myself on

I say just go ahead and jump onto a brand new R1.....

apparently that is the new poster bike for squids everywhere....the poor GSXR is loosing that title.

Yup my buddy stopped by the other day to show me his bike and ended up dropping it in my driveway.

if anyone is interested....

I know where there is a used SV650 in good condition for $3500, it runs great, has new tires, just a few things here and there and she'd be good to go, would actually make a great track bike. oh yeah, it's completely street legal now.

Mine isn't "brand new". Can I still be a squid? :)

The new GSXR should take that title back though. Realistically, buy a used bike the end of november if you want a good deal. Get an '05 that someone bought on an impulse and can't afford it and needs money for christmas. Or you could always get lucky and get a 2 year old R1 for $700 like a friend of mine did, crack heads need money. Deals like that barely exist but many people sell bikes that are less than a year old as christmas rolls around because their wifes hated them buying it and they need money and pussy and because of the bike don't have either. Thats how I got my first yamaha.

Hey Brett, are you sure you're gonna be able to touch the ground at all???? :lmfao:

Just playing. I have to do mine on tip toes sometimes, so I can't talk. :D

Like the rest of the guys said, dealers aren't gonna cut you any slack regardless of time of the year. Yeah, you could luck up and happen up on a used one at a dealer they will make you a deal to move, but their bread and butter is the new bikes.

You should've gone to Vortex last night with me and you would've gotten to see just about every freaking kind of bike there is in the world.

I still like your selection. Kaw's are good bikes.

I saw your bike parked there last night. I parked in front of the pizza place. Only place that I could find.

The r1 is 10,599 and some certain dealerships that are huge like lets say this one in tenn will bring it down to 9200.

Buy a bike around November. Owners will be trying to get rid of their bikes so they dont have to store them during the off season. You can get the best price for a bike during the winter because people just want to get rid of it because they can't ride it.

Brett

Winter is still the best because Sales men want to make the a sale and winter is they are not making shit.
