Anyone know if a FMIC from an SRT-4 will work on a GTI? If so you think it would be a good upgrade? I am pretty new to this so help me out. I have an '03 GTI if anyone has any suggestions.

It's hard to make an intercooler fit on gti's there is not much space unless you cut the bumper on the bottom or unless you get a new bumper. I have never tried that's just from what I have seen and what my mechanic told me.

you can put any FMIC you want on a dub basically... just depends on what you want to do...

http://www.importatlanta.com/upload/files/1/car/3.jpg

i had the greddy and that dayum thing was HUGE... 1) you can't run a core support the FMIC becomes it ;) 2) to get more surface area you have to cut your bumper just a bit...

you should be able to make that fmic fit, but core support will definitely have to comeout and you will have to cut the bumper... also beyound that you will have to get some custom piping... that will be the big part. if you can find a shop to do it pretty cheap then go for it....

BUT I DO STRESS ITS POINTLESS TO GET THE FMIC UNLESS YOU HAVE EVERYTHING ELSE DONE... YOUR NOT GOING TO GAIN ANY POWER... MOST PEOPLE LOOSE ABOUT 1PSI AND MAYBE COUPLE HP/LBS... PLUS DURING THE SUMMER WHEN ITS FUCKING 100+ DEGREES YOUR GOING TO LOSE ALOT MORE FROM HEAT SOAKING... THE STOCK SIDE MOUNT IS GOOD FOR JUST NORMAL BOLT ON'S BOOST... THE FMIC IS ONLY GOOD FOR RACE MAPS OR BT ;)

Thanks for the info. I was just thinking about it and wondering if it would work. I was probably going to wait on the fmic and get the programming done first along with a drop in K&N. Then go for an exhaust. What are good aftermarket exhausts with a good sound and production number wise?

dude you need to do: intake, dv, software (GIAC BABY), exhaust, dp, before you even think about FMIC :goodjob:

There's a guy riding around here with a black gti 1.8t with a fmic with his bumper off and you can see how the piping on his fmic is ran and it looks  :???: :screwy:...but that's how they are...

You should do the upgrades paul(admin) mentioned before you even start worrying about a fmic. Those upgrades will be the ones that will gain you power...you just want the bling ;)

What are some reputable brands that do after market for VW? I was always Honda/Acura so I dont know crap about VW. Thats what forums are for right? I was told that intake is a bad idea for turbo VW, but then again that guy didn't even drive one. So you guys help me out and let me know whats up. By the way do you know if that shop, the one you know that does the software, do you know if they have the Flashloader? Its a handheld flash programmer that lets you switch back and forth between programs. LMK

dude call up EPG 770-794-7240 and talk to Brian, tell him Paul sent you from IA.... they will guide you in the right direction. my 1.8t made some of the highest numbers on stock turbo.... good companys to go w/...

Software - GIAC they have a full handheld multiprogram setup thats what i had and it fucking rules!!!

Intake - EVO CAI

divertorvalve - EVO

downpipe + hiflo cat - techtonics tuning

exhaust - i had custom 2.5" + flomaster muffler

fmic - greddy

etc etc etc etc.....

you can easily make 225whp/290lbs on stock turbo; i will tell you software is the key and EPG is the local GIAC dealer... GIAC is the most aggressive software you can get for 1.8t (IMO)... if you want to see some dyno's let me know i have access to apr, revo, upsolute, and giac dynos all done on the same dyno in the same running conditions.

I would definately like to see those dyno comparisons. Also how does your exhaust sound? I was thinking about doing that but I dont know which muffler to get and I dont know where a mandrel bending shop is. I used to have an APEXi on my GSR and I liked the way it sounded. It was deep and not raspy. I appreciate you helping me out. :goodjob:

If you get flowmasters you can put one of those big gay stickers on your back bumper just like every truck.

thanx but i sold my 1.8t to LowJack on here... Scott, he also has that sick ass 350z blue one w/ all of the mods... he made my SPOOLDU his BTRCAR lol

there are quite a few places that can do an exhaust for you; shit any GOOD muffler shop can. i have a shop i can send you too if your up in the Gnett area; he did my setup 2.5 custom piping cat back to single in/out flowmaster w/ a turndown tip (turndown b/c it hid the muffler /// my bumper didn't have the exhaust cut out) i dyno'd 5hp/11lbs w/ this setup :goodjob: , and it would cost anyone approx 250$

I am south of Atlanta in Fayetteville. Anyone know af a good shop around there? The only places I know of are like Midas and Merlin and crap like that. Anyone got any old intakes and stuff laying around they want to get rid of? If so just let me know. I am in need of just about everything. :goodjob:

Ebay. Evolution motorsports intake. You will not regret it, it sounds amazing on the 1.8T. I love mine.

is that the EVOMS vflo? or are you talking about a different intake? I looked for the vflo and couldn't find one on ebay. I'll try just searching for Evolution Motorsports for the 1.8t.

Yes the intake is amazing. Ask anyone who has riden in my car they will vouche for it. And pretty much every vw owner knows about it.

And http://techtonicstuning.com/ is where you can get exhaust.
