OK, so i work on computers...no biggie. Well, i replace a lot of parts as they come in and then they go up for public sale. These things come in off leases from other companies and most the time have damage. But, i get on with Dell and order all NEW parts for them. So when im done, they are just as good as new.. i dont even take the protective plastic covers off any new external parts.

Anyway, i get a call transferred to me the other day. This guy is saying the PCMI slot is broken and its missing 3 screws. Bitches at me about wanting
another one sent to him so he can inspect it and send the "bad" one back. Also, when i work on these things, i have a nice, big clean table i do my assembly/disassembly. So when im done i can see if i have any left over screws....which doesnt happen. He was just going on and on about how big of a pain in the ass it would be to box it up to send it back and that he wanted to be compensated for his time and hassle..... all while knowing he bought a USED laptop. Btw, these decisions are not mine, they are the salespersons when it comes to refunds and replacements... i just work on the damn things.

So, after looking at a D800, and knowing my work, i see there are 3 holes that look like they could have screws, but dont..... well, one does, its a optional screw to lock in the cd drive. So heres the letter i got from this guy...imagine Ben Stien reading, because thats how the guy sounded on the phone.

"Hi ******
If you didnt believe me when I told you the screws were missing...I dont know how this is going to convince you otherwise as it is easy for these screws to be removed. But here you go anyway. Also you will see the broken modem card button. I hope you realize I have nothing to gain on this. I have decided to keep the computer for what its worth and hope it holds up past the warranty date.

This computer should have checked out before it was shipped! And not broken on arrival. Thats not what the warranty is for!!!

If you are a company that values its customer, doubting the word of your customer is not in the best interest.

This can only lead me to the conclusion that you pacify rather than satisfy you customer.

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

I am not going to send this item back and risk losing everything. Why should I trust someone who does not trust me.

If there is something you can think of to compensate me for my loss and trouble it will be appreciated. But I get the feeling Its easier to call me a difficult customer and go on with your life. I believe in Karma When this type of situation happens to you I hope you think of me.

I hope to here from your company in a positive response. Aka If this were to happen to you how would you like to be treated?
Happy New year! (great begining HUH?)"

oh heres a pic of the bottom with the "missing screws" circled.....
