2.0l GE Sleeved/AEBS sleeved
10:1 compression/9.8:1
Eagle rods/Crower rods/Manley <<<baller
Gt40/88 or GT42R or T series
1600cc injectors
AEM
Top Mount turbo manifold like TDF/FullRace/Neuiken
VTEC head with good portjob
Valvesprings/Retainers/Valves
ITR or S2S1 cams
JG Edelbrock manifold or Sheet Metal
4in DP
Nasty FMIC to hold the power

so about $15000 later, you can have that kind of power

what if i dim it down alittle and say about high 400's- mid 500's? i'm planning on using a b18b block and either a b18c head if i can find one cheap or a b16a......my goal is to beat a built 350 chevy in a 67 camaro....if not lose by less than almost 10 lengths like i did.......with my almost stock d15b7......... im also only looking at using about 8K.....if i can get away with it.....

Also if i deside to stay N/A or use NO2 is there any way to get to about mid 300's?

The main difference between a 700HP Honda and a 900HP is the turbo size. Most everything else stays the same.

With $8,000, I'd forge the bottom end, get a GT30R, mild port job on a VTEC head, upgrade the valvetrain, get ITR cams and get all of the supporting mods.

Call Main Stream. They built my 630whp Integra. They can tell you what you can do with your budget.

$8000 is hard to make 400-500 whp, sorry. WIth that much you can do a swap and a turbo kit an make 250-280whp, i just did a Civic Coupe and thats what he made.

unless you do all the workyourself, $8000 wont get you there

like i said there are almost no tuners that know how to work on cars so i wuold have
to do 90% of the work myself..... i have a b18b bare block in the works, im getting for
$100 and i was trying to find a b18c head....not that easy to find.....i was planning on spending about 2.5k on the head and the rest on the interals, then i was going to do tranny and ecu later when i get more money....

would you be willing to hold it for me until i got the 500 up? and also would it be worth building a d15b7 with about 300hp?

Sleeved LS block, CP pistons, Eagle Rods, Stock ITR head, decent turbo manifold, 2.5+ IC piping, PT67 turbo = 600whp. Not that hard to do. Good tuning is key to keep it all together.

what do you really want, first you need to really decide what your budget is. 400-500 you can easily do stock sleeves and a piston rod build. Id reccommend a turbonetics 62-1 for anything higher than 525hp because a 61mm blows hot at those power levels usually. Sleeves would be needed for anything above 550. 675 has been done on stock sleeves up north but not reccomended by any means.

Well we have made 680 on a non sleeved block here in GA, and 630 on a h22 stock sleeves and 480 on a gsr non sleeved. If i where to build another motor i wouldnt get it sleeved again.
You just need to sit down and figure out what you want,HP wise.
Anything under 650 i wouldnt get a block sleeved, also you can make over 600hp with a 60-1.I have a dyno sheet to prove that,
I personally think u can build a 600hp car for way under 8k. I have done it and have seen many people do it as well!!

The 1st question you need to ask youeself is what you really want?

most blocks i have seen make over 550 for any extended amount of time had cracked sleeves. Just cause someone does it once doesnt mean its true for all cases.

RACE people making over 600whp on stock sleeves dont care if it breaks, for your average joe, breaking that kind of motor is expensive.

so lets make sure we differentiate between RACE motors and street motors making that kind of power.

i think youll find if you call around and ask Golden Eagle, Bensons, RS, Darton, and most any shops, they will say oaver 500 sleeve the block

U can have a badass build for under $10k anything over that is a rape w/o vaseline...For $8k you can have a pretty good setup as well just not have as many of top notch parts....
Defenitely a sleeved block, a head with good valvetrain (Ferrea), LSD tranny, good axles, nice tubular manifold, like a pt67-71 will make the power...

when was this(680 non sleeved)??

just wondering, never heard that and i think that would be some kind of record if it was.

i know terry is making 575 on a stock sleeve block, but 680 i have never seen.

i think peter did 480 on a STOCK GSR IE stock rods, pistons sleeves.

i doubt youll find anyone to agree with you on 650 an under no sleeves. I usually reccomend 450+ to sleeve it for added insurance.

anything above 500 needs to be sleeved

$8000 from a shop wont get you the 600whp your speaking of.

We charge $3500 to build a motor, thats rods, pistons, machine work, assembly, new OEM stuff, ARP, but a stock head. Add another $550 for valves, spring, ret. so we are at $4000 roughly.

Add $300 for JG edelbrock manifold

so $4300 finishes up the "motor" with stock sleeves that can RELIABLY handle 450-500whp.

now the turbo kit:
Injectors $300
Turbo $650-750 for a Turbonetics or off the shelf garrett like a 62-1,60-1, T3/T4 60 trim
Turbo Manifold $850 (peakboost) or TDF
Downpipe $150-250
oil lines and fittings $150
Intercooler $180
Piping $300-400 depending on couplers
BOV $200
Wastegate $230
Engine management $180 for Crome PRo, $599 for S300 assuming you have a chipped ECU
3bar Map $60 pigtail $40
Walbro 255 $100
EBC $360
Turbo Kit PARTS:$3800 WITH CROME PRO add more for S300

$4300+3800=$8100

but alas that turbo kit isnt installed. I would charge $650-800 to install that kind of turbo kit.

so we are easily at $9000 BEFORE TUNING. Add 3 hours of tuniing at $140/hr=420

yeah i was right, about $10,000 out the door, $11000 with sleeves.

you guys from ISP are quoting numbers by building it yourself. No one is arguning that, but remember my responses are based on me doing the work. IE a SHOP.

Also if you look on a $10,000 ticket that i just quote im making:
$750 to RR an engine
$550 to assemble it
$650-800 to install a turbo kit.

so out of $10,000 i make $1950-2150

so roughly $7000-8000 is in PARTS.

680 on a non sleeved block, but with pistons, rods, and some head work.I can disclose the car due too the owner, but its been seen alot before.

Also how much did you make Spoolin on a non sleeved block?630?
So looking at 680 aint much more!!

And like i said in my other post Mike is Quoting labor charges,we dont look at that since we do do it are selfs, but on some of that pricing for parts does seem a little high, but for 8k you can have a badass setup no dought!!

P.s sorry if i miss spelled stuff im sick and screen looks blurry to me!

i made 515 on stock sleeves, 630 on a godzilla sleeve block that sank. If i really wanted to make 600 on stock sleeves i would, usually when you crack a sleeve, everything else is saveable from what ive seen.

what about a pinned block guard?how much would that hold?

SPOOLIN
01-15-2007, 08:55 PM
515-550 is what i would say maximum, block guard is a theory, it helps stop cracks that can begin at the top and go down like they always do. I dont know what pinned block guard means to you, but if its the threads to keep it from moving, you shouldnt need that.

pinned is when a machine shop pins it in the block not like just inserting it in
