type r tranny for ls tranny+cash
i got a type r tranny off of ebay its a good tranny but the gears are way to low for me all it does is spin spin spin my ride is boosted so it spins really bad like i can blow the tires off at 70 mph anyhow the tranny does have a slight grind at 6500-9000rpms in 3rd gear doesnt do it all the time but it has done it anyway its still in my car and im looking for good LS tranny and cash...
warning this tranny does 3500rpm@60mph

have you not tried syncromesh fluid?
it does 3500 rpm@60mph? is that normal? That sounds like a b16 to me...maybe a b16 with itr lsd?
B16 AND TYPE R HAVE THE SAME GEARING

thought it was a different final drive....oh well i must be mistaking
that's sounds about right to me..i had a itr swap once and around 55mph.. it seems to be around 3-3500rpm if i remeber correctly..

if your spinning with lsd then gl with that LS tranny
i got a gsr tranny with no grind.

so s80 is a type r tranny?
s80 is also gsr. correct me if im wrong but it has to have LSD stamped on it to by the type r.

to the question about whether or not you're S80 has 4.4 final drive or 4.7 final drive you can check the transmission housing. The code "4jhd" means 4.4 final drive was offered as original equipment, while "ne3" signifies 4.78 final drive.
I BOUGHT IT AS A 4.4 AND TO WHATS ON THE CASE HAVENT LOOKED

lol i could easily get rid of this tranny on H-T for 1200-1300 or ebay if not more on ebay. Dude learn how to price things and judge prices. Bump for a good deal if i had my old teg id be all over this and then be flipping it for a LSD gsr.

There is no way in hell you could get 1200+ for a ITR tranny that grinds. Especially with the economy right now.

i got a 93 ls tranny and 60 bucks
S80 can be an LS, GSR, or Type R tranny, and a b16 is some other code but they do have about the same gearing. This is a real R tranny, these things are awsome on all motors, GOOD LUCK WITH THE SALE ON AN AWSOME TRANY
