My first time at the track

Ok so i took the car out to the track for the first time and ran. I didnt do as good as i would liked to..but i think it was at least acceptable for my first time...

I had a lot of trouble hooking, its not like the street at all...plus i was at steele and from what i hear the conditions are terrible there compared to other tracks...

anyway here are the numbers

60 - 2.2
330 - 5.9
1/8 - 9.0 @ 80.95
1/4 - 13.8 @100.87

i think if i can just launch better, the rest of it will fall into place...im pretty sure my car is capable of low 13s like 13.2ish, but thats with good conditions and an experienced driver

Steele IS a good track, Titan Motorsports test there on T&T days often. Street tires will hook better on the road than the track.

that is what I thought about steele. A good friend of mine posted his best times there... even quicker than SDR.

Yeah I trapped 104 @ 13.2 with the same mods he has @ Reynolds.

Your car runs ok for what it has. Most of those GT's are absolute pigs.

I went to steele a few months back with JJSPEC for the import faceoff....no complaints from jimmy on the track and titans gary white was running mid 9's all day in his personal vehicle without issue

Steele seems to be pretty good track from what I have seen. Elevation is 580', so its in between SD and Commerce in that regard. Last time I was there, the track prep was amazing. Well, at least amazing compared to what I am used to. I bogged the dog sh!t out of my first and only run the car hooked so well.....on street tires no less. Only down side is the place was so busy, I only got one run in. The 2.5hr drive back to Atlanta is also a PITA.

it has a JLT intake with a 91 octane tune and the Pypes side exhaust system..

this is the first time ive ever heard anyone say anything positive about Steele. Maybe i just suck at driving...

my next mods are gonna be headers+offroad x pipe and a set of drag slicks

headers on the 3v are kinda a waste of $$ unless your f/i or something. the stock headers flow so well that your usually only gonna pick up 10ish whp which is not much for $400+ headers!

just go with o/r mid-pipe,ud pullys, and slicks and youll have a high 12, low 13 all day!

Im really doin it for the sound...the fact that it picks up an extra 10 or so hp is just a perk..

I think we are going to steele this friday to run a buddies new setup. Friday night isnt as good as sunday but it'll do. Sunday is for racers, not Bobby in his Z71 or 20 second protege.

Commerce sucks ass, its busy and its rained every time I have been there and people complain about poor track prep.
SDR is fine but that 3hrs south of us.
ANY 1/8 close to Rome, Ga is a ****hole PERIOD.

steele is a good track when they prep it. on friday nights, or as they call it, moonlight madness, it blows. they put a barrel in the way so you cant get in the groove and they let you just run in all the ****. its more of a grudge match kind of night. on sundays i hear its ALOT better.

Steele preps the track the same on friday night as they do on sunday. its just the cars with street tires dig up the groove and the vht so the track gets poorer. The barrel is there so you dont ruin it for the people with slicks.

well i went back to the track again last night. I still couldn't beat 13.8 but my trap increased to 103 and i ran consistent 13.8s where as last time that was just my best time...i was still unsatisfied but not to badly.

Steele SUCKS!!!! I cant keep no traction due to there crappy prep work.... but yet i still go sine its the track closest to me

What mods are done to the car? I have a friend with an 2007 GT with intake/exhaust. He ran a 13.6 at commerce which is also a shitty track. He hasn't taken it back with headers/pulley/tune yet, hopefully he will get down in the 12s with stock tires. Very doubtful though.
